Winter Blahs

Slow progress on the mood blanket this week. I have completed a few more
squares than what is shown, but now I'm trying to color co-ordinate the rows
in random fashion and join the rows.

Another commercialized holiday behind us.
Here are my heart creations for this year. I was
thinking of turning them into a hang up like the Boho

Another row added to this ripple blanket.

Has everyone been enjoying the Olympics?
We're hockey fans here and waiting for
Canada to win the gold. Fingers Crossed.
USA and Russia are currently playing, good match.

Happy Weekend All!

A bit of this, a bit of that...

I just finished up a mug cozy for my tea cup at work.  That's my heart swag hanging on my cubicle wall at work.

I finished this baby/little girls hat.  It was supposed to be a pattern for a fedora hat but the brim ended up more ripply than I think it was supposed too.  Either way, people thought it was cute this way so I put on a flower to finish it off.

My granny circles are all done.  Now onto square making. I'm thinking these will turn into a nice gift idea I have.

And with V-day this week, I wanted to make more hearts.  I edged them with some fun scrappy yarns I had gotten from E-bay last year.

A co-worker brought in this ball of yarn for me.  She intended on making dish clothes but hers ended up lop-sided.  So I frogged what she had most of the way and finished it off and gave her the dish cloth below.  I ended up making a few more and gave them away.
Love these colours.

Lucky me gets V-day off, only because I have a dental issues and will either be getting a root canal or the tooth pulled.  Depending on how bad it is.  Joy.

Color Goodness

I've made some progress on my crochet bag.  I am just itching to finish it and use it. It shouldn't be much longer.

I've also been working with the double ended crochet hook on the runner.  It's a really nice technique if you wanted to make something double sided.

I also had to try to take a better picture of my heart swag.  I always seem to finish projects at night and then get anxious to take a picture and want to post it.  But it is now daytime and had better lighting.
I am hoping to get more done on the bag and I am dying to get working on a new ripple blanket for a single bed.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Why couldn't it fall on a weekend. When you're more relaxed. Not trying to wake up for work, make the coffee, forgetting to put the garbage out the night before only to remember as the garbage truck goes by. Anyway. I did put together my Valentine's heart swag.

I also worked on Granny Squares last night.

I took another picture later today of the heart swag hanging from my shelf of my Cherished Teddies.

Any my honey surprised me today with the Valentine's classic, dozen red roses :)  Thanks honey!

I also forgot to post about the hat I made on the weekend when I went to my Stitch & Bitch with the girls.  It used 2 strands of bulky weight yarn which made the hat quite thick and warm.  But it turned out well.  I think I'll put it on my Etsy Store.

Coziness, yarn and the cat

My cat decided he wanted to cuddle in the bag I'm crocheting.  I might just have to make one for him as a cat bed. LOL  I did manage another few rows today even with him sitting in it for a while for his nap. I just can't seem to get this done fast enough for my liking.  Of course it would help if I focus more one fewer projects.

I got a chance to fix up my favourite crochet hook with the tip from Teresa Richardson using gel pencil grips and pvc tubing.  This video linked she had used the first aid flexi tape to build up some thickness before putting on the gel grips. It is much more comfortable for the hand than a thin hook.

I did finish a WIP tonight however, the ruffle scarf.  One Skein of the Red Heart Sashay yarn produced this length of scarf, just enough to add something to any outfit or neckline.

Then I came across another heart tutorial, again by Teresea Richardson. It makes a really cute, super easy heart that you can add different edging to it if you want. Here's mine.
Finally, I got a sewing machine from a friend that was the first one she used when learning how to sew.  I've been wanting to get my hands on a working older machine, as I somewhat remember how to use, for a while now so I can sew in linings etc on my crochet pieces.  I got a chance to get familiar with it again and tried some practise stitches.  I did find the thread bunched (bird's nest they call it i guess) under the material. I read that you may have to play with tension or re-thread machine.  If any of you sewer's out there have suggestions please let me know.  It's a Singer 700 series machine.
Tomorrow's Sunday and it's quite late as I am posting this on Saturday night for me. I will try to get some decent sleep but on Monday I start a new shift at work and it's much earlier in the day than I've been used to.

Happy Weekend!!

Hearts and Omlettes

When browsing Pinterest I found this yummy looking recipe.  Breakfast Omlette Muffins. I have to say they were quite yummy.  I used green pepper instead of the broccoli.

More progress on the crochet bag.....

My crochet co-worker got a Knook kit.  She asked me to see if I can figure how to use it out.  It's knitting with a crochet hook.
This was my practise attempt. It really does look like knitting if you do it right.  I watched a few videos on You Tube on how to use it. I re-started a knooked item, going to make a thinner scarf in varied pink shades.
I also picked up recently a ball of Red Heart's Sashay yarn.  I makes those ruffle scarf you see around.  I seen a tutorial on how to use it.  You use one edge of it to knit.  I just cast about 10 or so stitches. You seem to produce  length quick but you have to spread the strands to grab the space you need to knit into.

And lastly, I forgot to post the Hearts as stated in the post title.  I want to make more and make a hearts swag for Valentines Day.  So many projects on the go.  That's from impatience to get projects done, high multi-tasking abilities (job related) and slight A.D.D. LOL  I think I need to stop checking out blogs daily and actually get my projects done.  Maybe cut back to bi-weekly blog hopping.  There are so many great projects that I find on other's blogs and Pinterest that I want to make as well.  Thanks for visiting my blog.
