Crochet Countdown

It's nearly only a month away from Christmas and I still haven't made as many gifts as I'd like.  But I did accomplish some smaller projects this week.

An kids Angry Bird Hat.

And more work on the ripple, granny square to cover a cushion and Lucy's Triple Layer Flower from Attic 24 tutorial. Really quite easy.  I will have to make some more of these.  And to all you American's out there, Happy Thanksgiving!!  I'm off on Friday whoohoo.
Might see what sales are on for Black Friday or if it's just hype.

Another One Finished

It's nice when you get a project finished.  It didn't take too long. Maybe a week with distractions.  This is my Half Moon Shawl.  The pattern is from the Lion Brand site.

It might just need some kind of button to attach in the front.  I'm hoping to send this one out to a friend next week.

And for those small grannies.  I got the centers made and started the square part of them.  I chose a different colour than the first set.  I probably will stagger the colours back and forth for something. Still undecided on bunting or scarf.

So that's it for this Sunday.  It's a warm one.

Slow progress

It feels like I've slowed down in my crafting creations.  But maybe that's just me.  Once taking my pictures of the things I've been working on maybe not.  It's Victoria Day here in Canada and it's wonderful to have the day off.  Happy B-day Queen Victoria.

So I made a few more of the granny squares in my new favourite colour scheme. I guess I will keep making them until I get enough for a small throw.  But my box 'o grannies is getting full.

The ripple blanket has been growing as well. With warmer weather coming, it's hard to have it on your lap crocheting on without getting a bit hot.

Remember my African Flowers Bag?  I made the handles for it.  I haven't attached them yet.  I'm still deciding on sewing a liner for it or not.  I'm not a highly skilled sewer and with it having a round bottom and tube style shape, it may be a bit tricksy for me to sew that on the machine.  Attaching a liner would be easier with the handles off I imagine.  I also still have to make the drawstring cord for it next.
And for the shawl, I think I'll be stopping where I am at and finish up with the edging.  I thought I'd use the two full skeins I have but it might end up a bit heavy and too ripple wavy edge.  This may be a gift for a friend of mine.
Even the cat likes it.

Well I'm off to enjoy the day.

African Flowers

Eight days after initial cold bug symptoms, still not much better.  Still have a lot of congestion. I went to the clinic on Wednesday and got some meds and that has helped me sleep instead of coughing all night.  A few days later I filled the other script doc gave for an anti-biotic as I still had been coughing.  Sometimes it's to the point of choking.  He also suggested and inhaler which I already had a home.  And today is such a nice day, despite having to work a few hours this morning, mind you I volunteered.  I did come home after work and brought the cat out on his harness and he just sat there and soaked up the sun sniffing the air.  I've heard a lot of people have been sick right now.  I sure hope it goes away this week. Anyway....

I have seen these flowers around on blogs, flickr, pinterest and have been dying to try these.  They seemed a bit of a challenge.  I was on Google+ one day and follow Ravena X's posts and seen these flowers.  So I went over to her blog and she has a great step by step tutorial on how to do these  African Flower Tutorial If you care to give them a try check out her blog.  I have made two so far.

I also tried a motif from that book I posted about earlier.  After taking the picture I realised I clearly missed a step. LOL

What should be a hex is a pentagon. Obviously I should of made the six section in middle to start.  I will have to try this again.  It is a nice motif though either way.

I also took a pic of my "Box 'o Grannies.

And the ripple is still coming along. It's been 4 weeks now and I think I've done quite well.

Oh and another square made for my other granny blanket of the white, black and grey tones.

Well hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. I have a day off tomorrow so I'm hoping to enjoy it even though it's supposed to rain.

Sickly Progress

I've been down the last 6 days with a nasty bug.  I did manage more progress on my ripple, crochet bag and more granny squares done. I have to get ready for work so not enough time to elaborate.  Maybe next time.
Happy Thursday!

Oh and I even made a pair of slippers, they are super warm.

I was also informed this morning I was featured on Link It Up Thursday at These Peas Taste Funny

Grannies, Ripples and Liebster

Oh how I love Sundays. Get up when you want, have coffee, read my blogs. Of course it's the day to get chores done :(  But, I added a few more double rows so far on the ripple.  It can't come along quick enough if you ask me.  Each added colour gets me more eager to finish it.

I also made a few more grannies.  Smaller ones and added a new colour to the scheme.  Course the new colour seems to be a bit thicker yarn than the others.  Oh well, should me fun for joining. LOL

My honey was playing with the cat last night.  The cat loves playing with him, he knows how to get him worked up.  I had to take this quick video.  He doesn't hiss often but when honey gets him going he does.

Remember my special project I was working on a few months back?  Well I pulled it out. It's somewhat done.  Not completely happy with with it yet.  I may add some ribbon or something on the edges to dress it up.  I'd like to pin the squares in better as well.  But I finally took a decent picture of what I have.

On my last post I received a Liebster Blog award from Lelo's Blog .  It's a kind of chain mail of sorts to share people's blogs.
There are rules – there are always rules – and yes, you could take the attitude that rules are made to be broken!  But I will try to be good.  There aren’t that many rules – only 5.
  1. You thank the person who gave you the award
  2. Then link back to that person’s blog
  3. Copy and paste the Liebster award to your own profile
  4. Pick 5 blogs who you feel deserve to be noticed (they have to have under 200 followers)
  5. Then finally blog it and leave a comment to let your 5 choices know they have been chosen
  1. Thank you Lelo of picking my blog.
  3. Above
      Suz Place
      U Knit Me
  5. Let them know.
