CAL Progress

I have been diligently working on my Dahlia Blanket each day.  Either at work on lunch or mostly at home at night watching TV.  I'm about to start part 3 of the Crochet A Long with the pinks.
I am usually a worsted yarn weight gal but this kit came with DK Double Knit yarns.  I am finding it
works up nice and doesn't make the blanket as heavy as using worsted.

And with Valentine's this week I took a quick night off and completed this ruffle heart from
Lulu Loves Crochet Blog. It works up quickly and completed in one evening.

My buddy here has been laying on my original ripple blanket that was our past cat's favourite as I've been working on the Dahlia blanket.  Cats can't get enough cozy time.

Last weekend I wanted to do some sewing as I've had charm packs of this material from Sewing Parts Online, Moda's Harvest Road collection. I used a whole charm pack for this quilt top.  I have another pack and deciding if I should make this larger or not.

And I whipped up a quick cushion for the cats.

Happy Valentines Weekend All!

Cushion Love

If you following me on Instagram @laydilyke you may have seen this cushion I made.
I used the #chantillyfabric from Moda that I got in the @sewsamplerbox for the front
side.  Quilted it, added a few fancy stitches from my machine and finished the back with
a starred canvas type fabric.  I gifted it to my aunt recovering from a surgery.

Another quick project I made with a Hexie Mug Rug. I got 2, 3, and 4 inch Hex templates
that I can now make various things and the paper pieces.

It's finally been a bit warmer here to get out on my bike more.

Showing off my bike basket liner.

Found some Lilacs that my girl enjoyed as well.

And this weekend we got the veg planted. It's Victoria Day weekend here
in Canada. Always nice to have a 3 day weekend.

Have a good weekend all!

Holiday Weekends

Another week gone by and I finally finished my little cushion. I used my neon Caron yarn
and you don't realize how neon they are until you have it outside. It's still cute and
super colorful. I used it at work yesterday and does the trick.

I could of used a wider stuffing pouch inside but I could always add to it.

I treated myself to some new yarn. Not a generic one either. Something I can
make a garment with.  I read about this type of yarn in my book series
I've been reading. Cascade Yarn Ultra Prima. Of course I got too eager to
unwind it and tangled it all up.  I spent my friday night detangling.
For the other skein, I looked up on You Tube how to properly unwind to
get it ready for my yarn winder. Learn by mistake I guess.

Last weekend I finished this section of my English Paper Piecing
project.

I'll end with a beautiful sunset we had this week.

Happy Labour Day weekend to American and Canadian friends.
It's the iconic weekend where summer seems to end, but not officially.

Granny Love

With the start of my new job, I'm finding I am sitting even more at my desk.  It's paperless so we do have the chance to walk to the fax machine as before.  So I decided I needed to make myself a nice
little cushion for the back.  So far, my grannies are made, joined and bordered.  Now I'm working on the back part. I'm quite happy with it so far.  I'm using my neon Caron yarn colours with black.

Next project may have to be a mouse wrist rest.

Happy Weekend All!

Birthdays

Another year older and wiser. Now that I'm in my 40's it's not too bad.  I still feel younger at heart but the
body may say different.  Haha. My mom called me on my birthday and sang happy birthday
and reminded me age is just a number.  I had to laugh.

Anyway, my team at work surprised me with a few goodies.

Yummy Butter Pecan cake and rum. Gotta love spiced rum.

It was the first birthday in a few years that I worked it.  I usually take it
off for vacation but there was no point being on a Wednesday. So I took Friday off instead.
I haven't really crocheted much this week.  I have got addicted to Farmville's
tablet version of their game.

I bought myself some Tulips, my favourite.

Honey and I went for a walk in a nature park early in the week as it was
finally nice spring like weather.  I was surprised the deer were out walking
around the paths. There must have been at least 8 we seen.

Last week I forgot to share the cushion I made with these
squares I had got off Ebay a while back.  It really brightens up
our new furniture. Of course I love owlies.

This and That

I've been working on my roll pillow.  I made two mandala style circular ends for it.  Now I had found a pre-stuffed roll form at the thrift store, however it is a bit short for my ripple I made.   So I will have to sew up another portion to fill the length of my crochet ripple. I do love the look of it thus far.

I gave my baby baseball hat to my cousins little one.  I think he loves it. LOL

I got some fun new fabrics recently. I am hoping to make some bags, pouches or whatever I can come up with to sew. Maybe for some Christmas gifts etc.

That's all for now. Happy Weekend all!

Ripple Cushions

Finished my first cushion.  It's just a small couch cushion but still warm and lovely.  Working on the second one, a bit bigger and I'm going to join it a different way with a buttoned closure on the back.

It's been a busy week with overtime at work and co-workers birthdays.  I started a bunting for my friend's daughter's birthday next week.  I should get it done this weekend and will post it then.

Some new yarns I got on sale.  Hoping to make something for my cousin's baby boy she's going to have. She just found out.  I'm excited.  Other than that a pretty slow week crafting.

Happy Weekend All!

Ups and downs

Well since Easter I've since turned 40. I had a few days off.  I went to visit a friend and her little one.  On the way home I had a stupid incident with the car.
I drove over the edge of a median in a parking lot.  It didn't sound good after that and I noticed the engine mount cracked. I had to get it towed to a garage.  Honey, was needless to say pleased, NOT. I had plans to go to dinner with my cousin and still did that. But, nonetheless it put a damper on my day.
I've been crocheting ripple cushions in efforts to stash bust.

And I had since made one more bunny.  The cat seemed to like it.

Happy weekend all!
