Finished WIP and Goodies

So I finished this project this week for my cousin's gift as she posted the link on my wall I took it as a hint for a gift.  It's the Flint Fox Cowl by Heidi May pattern that I bought.  It's well written and easy to follow instructions.  For this adult size I used 6 balls of the main colour Loops & Threads Charisma Marble chunky yarn in Granite from Michael's and maybe 1/4 ball of the chocolate brown.

I also started another but for a toddler, my cousin's little one I call my nephew.

I received some goodies this week from my brother who now lives in Canada's Great White North, Yukon.  Some Fireweed Jelly (made from a flower native to that area) which was quite good. A cute felted sheep, fun named soap and hot chocolate and best of all some lovely hand dyed yarn.

Last weekend I put the tree up for the first time in a few years.  Mostly we didn't have the room but made the room this year as it's Pippa's first Christmas with us.  

And as you can see she's super impressed.  LOL

Progress Made

Happy weekend all!!  I haven't posted in a bit.  Have a bit of a cold at the moment.

I guess that's the joys of winter.  But I have made some progress on various projects.  I always wanted to make some of these starburst granny squares and with some recently acquired pastel colours I thought I'd try it out.  This is now blocking to lay flat.  I think I will add more to the border. Then I will start the backing of this cushion cover with a striped crochet in these colours.

I finished knitting this cowl scarf. It covers the shoulders nicely to keep warm. Through the holidays I had picked up this fuzzy type yarn. I thought it would be perfect to finish off the top and bottom of this. I may have to block the bottom of this however as it's tending to curl up.

And for my chunky cable scarf, it is finished.  Super warm.  I used up the whole ball of yarn I got. The only thing I'm not keen on it that the mixed colouring doesn't show the cable design. 

Chalk that up to lesson learned. So I took a picture a bit closer up to show the cable.

I finally got the first book in this series as I had the second one.  Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs.  My aunt has started reading it and tells me it is very good. There's something cozy about reading novels that include the hobby you love.

Time Flies....When You're Crafting

So last week I finished a few things I had been working on.  Above, the knitted chunky cowl that I listed on my Etsy. 

I also finished one of two owl stuffy orders.  I should finish the other this weekend.

And with the yummy yarn I got a few weeks back, I started a knitted hat for my honey.  I will also be using a darker a lighter colour in this hat.  I was going to try a cable knit hat but I couldn't find the right pattern. And when I did, it was to knit in the round and I had already started the ribbing edge. I was just going to knit then sew up after. I didn't want to take it apart as the ribbing process is boring enough for me to have to do it again. 

I finished the other Earphone pouch last weekend and delivered to the new owners.  Hopefully these youngins will show their friends and request more.

I made a trip to the fabric store today to see what holiday goodies they had in and above is what I got. I found those cute scissors that look like a bird for 1/2 the price. I fell in love with this snowman fabric.   Now to pick a project for it.

I also got these panels from Ebay.  They will make an adorable wall hanging.

Finished Object Friday

In joining with Tami's Amis FO Friday's, my finished object is my granny stripe cowl.  Yes, I am wearing a Hello Kitty top. LOL, never too old to love HK.

I'm going to wear it with pride (pun - pride colours) tomorrow for the Walk for Memories, Alzheimer's walk.  I raised $400 for the local Alzheimer's society.

Remember this project, Messenger Bag?  Well it was made and lined.  I frogged my strap today as I realised I didn't do it right in the first place.  It came out much better.  Attached that, added heart buttons and made the flower.  What am I going to do with it?  Not sure.  Probably add it to my Etsy shop.  Ravelry said I started it in April.  LOL Well at least it's done.

Another one is this pink cowl.  I found it in my project drawer.  Pulled it out and kept crocheting until it was near out of yarn.  And also started making more African Flowers. I forgot how much I like making these.
