Mia, Pet Loss and Crafting Progress

Hope everyone had a nice New Years. 

This year's winter we've had quite the amount of snow and

the season of sickness.  It's everywhere, work and home.

I was feeling quite proud my usually good immune system

hadn't caught anything with taking Oil of Oregano supplements and

my apple a day regime. But no, some people at work don't

believe in covering their mouth when they cough incessantly.

I was down for 2 weeks with it, 3 days off work. While nursing my cold I 

had been trying to keep check on my old sickly cat. He made it through

the holidays and through January but his hyperthyroid and growth in

rectum had made him quite week and skinny.  Constantly drinking water 

and bits of food but never seem to nourish him enough.  It was hard

but necessary to end his suffering. He seemed like he wanted to keep fighting 

to stay with me.  He was my suck and I had had him since 6 weeks old.

If he made it to April he would have been 16 years.

I have been crocheting more lately, rest time will allow that.

I have gotten quite a few more rounds done on this and near the end of my 

skein of Caron Cake.  I do have one more skein if I want to keep it going.

Summer Fun

Happy weekend all. I've had this week off during the Canada Day and American 4th of July.

Honey and I went to Toronto and Niagara Falls area for a few days.

Of course a road trip meant I got to do some crochet.

I also started some bunting triangles this week.

And finished my starflower mandala.

Nice to finish a project.

And as for the trip.

 Distillery District restored in Toronto with shops and restaurants.

And we went to the Ripley's Aquarium

And Niagara. Always lots to do and see here.

Summer Joys

Happy weekend all!  It was a long week. I managed to get a few more rows in on my mandala.  I think there is only a few more to go, borders. It's definitely going to need blocking.

I have finished another row on this WIP.  You know one of those projects you set aside. 

I was organizing my yarn bin and sat and finished the yellow row while down in my craft area.

It's been harder to focus on crafting, especially sewing when it's so nice out.  The super hot

weather is still to come, which I am not a fan of, so I've enjoyed the perfect 70-80 degree weather

while I can.  Sewing can be for rainy days. 

So I did something daring and decided to go shorter in hair style.  It's been over a decade 

I've had shoulder length or longer hair.  As men seem to prefer.  With hot weather, no

air conditioning in my car and when you're slightly over weight you tend to get hot

very easily, I decided to do a shorter do.

I forgot to share with you crocheters a fun t-shirt I came across

on the net that I had to order.  It's from Teespring. 

Last weekend we had a local festival that we went to.  I made a collage pic

from it.  It was again perfect weather for it as well. I got the little green owl

in top corner for my garden. 

And lastly, my rose bushes I planted a month ago have bloomed.

Mourning

This week, while on a lovely bike ride, I brought a crochet project with me in my bike basket.  Three quarters of the way I stopped to do some crochet and 

realized my favourite crochet hook (seen below) had bounced it's

way out of the basket.  My heart sank. I backed tracked the whole route

with no luck.  It's not that I cannot replace it but still... RIP 4.5MM

I've been working on the Starflower Mandala by Moogly. 

A bit of a stash buster.  I'm using my cottons for this.

This was the project I brought along on my bike.

I got a bell for my bike as well.  Pink of course.  I'm 

still working on my pink bicycle seat cover.  With the nice weather 

we've been having I'm had serious procrastination on crochet. That

or I'm losing some of my crochet mojo.   I know, never, but I guess

one needs to take a break to find it again.

Mandala Mania

I've mostly been making mandala's with the new bright yarn I got last weekend.

Baby Ripple Blanket

Finally done! I managed to finish the edging over the holidays.  For such a small blanket, it sure is warm.  Now I have to make one for the single bed.  Sadly, probably won't but may do a granny blanket as they seem to get done faster.  We'll see.  So here it is.

According to my ravelry post I started in Sept.  I got side tracked with some Christmas projects and hats. I also made a small mandala pot holder a la  Crochet with Raymond style.  

Now what to do next.....
