Changes

I hope everyone had a good week.  Mine started out alright. Went to work on Monday, 

my last week at my place of 7 years.  However, the day ended being asked to

leave early.  I had given my two week notice the week before as I had 

been offered a new job elsewhere.  I received the usually company excuse of

having a negative attitude and impact on the team etc. 

Nothing like being appreciated after seven years which was 

exactly why I had sought work elsewhere.

C'est la vie.

Anyway, it gave me an extra almost week off and I got to get back to

many crochet projects.  I had been given a bag of started baby blue 

granny squares a while back.  Well, with my cousin's baby 1st birthday 

next week I decided to use those and make a blanket for him.

This was one days progress, adding the grey

and joining with the white.

I had been making some flowers and got a canvas and painted the background a bit. 

Nothing fancy.  I just wanted to make a bit of crochet art work for my new desk.

I may add some more to it, birds or something.

I've been working on a v-stitch project which is going to be a shawl.

I love this Neapolitan yarn combination.  And from quite a while ago,

I had found these gumballs I had made and put aside.  So, I started to 

make them into the squares they were intended and join. 

I have been putting off making something for my bike. So I used some

scraps to make a small bunting for the basket.  Can't wait to put it on.

I still want to make a basket liner and finish my seat cover.

All week had been cooler but cloudy.  Thursday the sun had come out

and was a perfect day for a bike ride.

Distractions

 

Happy Mother's Day weekend ladies!! The only crochet I've been managing of late is working on

the border of my squares blanket.  It's about baby/lap size.  I may just keep going with border to make

it a bit bigger. 

 

I received my second Cath Kidston item this week.  It's so cute.  I love this purse.

It goes with my coin purse as well.

 

This game here has been my distraction from crochet.

Well, more like addiction.  It's the tablet smartphone version

from the one on Facebook.

 

 

But another distraction is the gorgeous weather. We got some

flowers and rose bushes this year. Usually we don't do much

with gardens and flowers.  But it's a nice change.

Festivals Galore

I love summer for all the festivals that go on in our area.  We scope them out early, see who's performing, how much to go etc.  I usually plan some vacation days around them and that was this weekend - Friday and Monday.  We had our local Bluesfest this weekend.  My honey and I got to go for free with my cousins.  Turned out to be a blast and a bit of crazy night.  The following day we hadn't planned on going.  The performance line-up wasn't the best this year, but a wonderful co-worker offered me her tickets as her husband and her couldn't make it.  So we went and it was quite busy.  We even walked back to the car to get our chairs. We still had fun though.

   And finally, the big weekend event was to go to a concert festival in another city that we had already previously had tickets for.  If you're family with rock/alternative bands the line up was Papa Roach (Canadian band), Simple Plan (Canadian band) and The Offspring.  My honey was more interested in seeing the Offspring as it was a favourite of his younger days.  Just as the first band was going to play, it down poured rain.  But, since we are veteran festival goers, we plan for it all.  I pulled out our emergency ponchos. Luckily the rain didn't last long. The singer of Papa Roach even came out and walked around the crown.  It was a bit mucky though, but no worries, dirt washes off. 

Needless to say I didn't get much crochet in this weekend.   I had been working on some little flowers throughout last week.  And today, recovery day, made a vine like swag to attach them to.  So once I get that done I'll post it.  I want to hang it across bedroom window.

And the Friday I had off, I treated myself to a new do at the salon.  My hairdresser is awesome!

Hoping to get some crochet done this week, but it looks to be busy again.  And another long weekend for me coming up. 

Days Off

It's always so nice when you have gorgeous weather on a day off from work.  It was around 70 degrees yesterday.  Couldn't of been more perfect.  Honey and I went for a drive to a few county nursery/gift ware places.  The first place had alot of girly gifting and just neat things.  Honey was extremely bored.  Then browse that garden center.  I think it just instantly lifts your mood to see such colourful flowers.  All the hanging basket were gorgeous and would see randomly butterflies on them. In top right corner of this picture was a neat idea, planted in a large wooden planter was a neat scene, miniture house with moss and bench in the back.  There was another planter like this but I must have deleted the picture.  This place also had another building with alot of cookware items, coffee bar etc.  I had to take a picture of this rainbow mixing bowl set.  The gift building had some nice owlie items.  Then we went to the other garden center and they have alot of gifting, craft items as well as their plants.  The froggies were so cute I had to take their picture.  And came across some nearly real craft calla lily flowers, one of my faves.  The orchids below are real in this pic.

I know it's nearly summer here but they still had Christmas stuff on display. I LOVE Snowmen and had to take a picture of this.  And the elf display was so pretty that it was photo worthy.  And lastly are these colourful Bee catchers.  If I was rich I would have bought most of the things I've shown here.  Oh well, keep buy loto tickets.

They had this setup perfect for picture taking.  Honey was kind enough to take my picture on this giant flower chair. 

On to projects. Well this week, I didn't get alot accomplished. Mostly working on the Half Moon Shawl from last weekend. 

I've already used one skein of the 2 pack of remnant yarn.  I might just use the whole of the second skein and then it will be good and long.  I believe the pattern had a chunkier yarn than this and a larger hook, but I only used a 6.5 mm.  It's still working up quick.

Anyway, have a good weekend.  I hope to get more accomplished.

From those color circles, I made them into squares with the pale lavendar color. Not sure what I'm doing with those yet. Also I got 3 of the grannies joined now. And I made 2 more Japanese flowers for the year long shawl that keeps getting put to the side.

Baby gifting and more

     So my friend's shower was yesterday and had been working on the Baby Ripple Blanket but I just couldn't get it done on time.  At first it was going to be in January but was moved to first weekend in December.  Anyway, I tried. Unfortunately I am a multi-tasker with ADD as I always say and tend to do other projects.  Here is the progress so far on the blanket.

I plan on doing a border once it's done to length. So I wanted to at least show up with something.  She knew about the blanket anyway.  So I whipped these up in a day & a half.  I got the pattern from Mamachee's blog.  Granny square baby booties.  

They were fairly easy to make.  Just have some buttons on hand.  And yesterday I also started for her a baby hat.  I was even still crocheting it at the Santa parade prior to going to the shower.

I also browse my favourite blogs and come across the flower shawls.  I started the Japanese flower shawl from Attic24 blog like last year.  Summer came and progress slowed as I knew it would be too warm to wear it.  I ended up crocheting flip flops.

But I will get to finish the shawl this winter, it's nearly there.  Just a bit longer.
