Dabble Crochet

Ever feel like you're doing a whole lot of nothing?  In crochet, life etc.  That me for sure in crochet. 

I've mostly been bouncing from various projects on the go - WIPS.

The african flowers, of which I want to make the Happy Hippo by Heidi Bears after I 

bought her pattern.  

I did manage to finish this quick little project for my cousin's baby.

Papa loves baseball so he should love this hat.

 

Honey and I went to a mini put golf course in our area.  This one puts others to shame.  It's a pirate like theme to it.

 

 

And I was cleaning out some old dishes getting ready for a yard sale this weekend and found this pretty tea cup and saucer for you tea cup lovers out there.

WIP Wednesday

Another short work week.  Friday off and we finally got a break from the heat and rain.  Knock on wood.  I've been make these African Flowers with my fun bright yarns.  I may just make these into the Happy Hippo.

And we've all heard of the new Royal Baby Babooii George. 

Isn't he cute. 

I started another Minion hat as requested. We'll see how much I get done this week and weekend.  

Long Weekend Crochet

Happy Victoria Day fellow Canadian's.  It's the holiday weekend here in honour of queen Victoria.  Even she was a crafter.

So, I've been working away on the baby boy granny blanket a co-workers wants to give as a gift.  I'm starting on edging now and should be done for next weekend. 

I have more of my African flower squares made.

They're so addictive to make and can do almost any colour scheme.

And a few more gumballs.

I did use the vivid feature on the camera to make them stand out. 

It's been nice and warm this weekend and I've been crocheting outside under the trees.

Bunting and flowers

I finished making myself a lovely granny triangle bunting.  

I've also been doing some african flowers that I've been wanting to try the pattern to turn them into squares out for a while.  I think they make wonder squares.  Now what to do with them, hmmm......

I acquired a half started blanket from a co-worker who knew someone who was getting rid of yarn and such. It's a lovely pale yellow that may just make a nice baby blanket for my cousin who is expecting. 

Who actually got married today.  It was a lovely day for a wedding. First wedding   I've been to on a Friday.

Me, cousin Sarah and my other cousin Savanah. Lovely ladies and glad we're getting closer as the years go on. 

Anticipation and Stress

Tis the season to be stressed out.  Work is hectic and trying to finish up gifts. Then the next thing you know it's over.  I think it's just going to be me and my honey for X-mas day.  My dad having dimentia won't really know what day it is.  And my mom is another whole ball of stress wax.  Anyway....

     I completed a project gift for an aunt.  African flowers table runner. All earth tones.

I received my swap gift from my partner in the Handmade Gift Exchange. Lovely holiday decorations. 

And to relax for the holidays, the classic drink of choice. Rum & Egg nog.  Cheers!

FO - Finished Objects

Remember this project, Messenger Bag?  Well it was made and lined.  I frogged my strap today as I realised I didn't do it right in the first place.  It came out much better.  Attached that, added heart buttons and made the flower.  What am I going to do with it?  Not sure.  Probably add it to my Etsy shop.  Ravelry said I started it in April.  LOL Well at least it's done.

Another one is this pink cowl.  I found it in my project drawer.  Pulled it out and kept crocheting until it was near out of yarn.  And also started making more African Flowers. I forgot how much I like making these.

Days Go By

Days sure do fly by.  Especially when you have family drama going on and have to work a full time job.  So some days, the crochet flow isn't too abundant.  As well as trying to get some physical exercise in after your doctor tells you that you are borderline diabetic.

But I did manage to finish my shawl. I'll try to get a good picture for it maybe tomorrow.

Last holiday weekend I got out the sewing machine to make a liner for my African Flower bag.  I am not the most skilled sewer, but did manage to get the diameter for the tube shape and then the circle for the bottom of bag.  Actually, two circles and I put a card board circle in between for some shape and strength and sewed on the tube.  Good thing it's at the bottom of the bag and you wouldn't really see my "expert" sewing job. LOL

Handles made from last week. Just have to sew together and on.  And make the drawstring for the top.

My sewing machine my aunt gave me.  Works like a charm.

Next little project, back to these.  I made a set of these daisy granny squares a bit ago. So I'm thinking of another series or two of these colours and make a granny bunting.  Or?  Hmmm.  Any ideas?  Cushion?

Most of these colours I got at a yard sale last years.  The few with the glitter I had myself but made the card board spool to put those colours on.  It sure is easier to carry around a small bag of this much yarn than it is whole skeins in a bag. 

Well it's Saturday and was hoping it would be nice but I hear some thunder.  Maybe tomorrow.

Slow progress

It feels like I've slowed down in my crafting creations.  But maybe that's just me.  Once taking my pictures of the things I've been working on maybe not.  It's Victoria Day here in Canada and it's wonderful to have the day off.  Happy B-day Queen Victoria.

So I made a few more of the granny squares in my new favourite colour scheme. I guess I will keep making them until I get enough for a small throw.  But my box 'o grannies is getting full.

The ripple blanket has been growing as well. With warmer weather coming, it's hard to have it on your lap crocheting on without getting a bit hot.

Remember my African Flowers Bag?  I made the handles for it.  I haven't attached them yet.  I'm still deciding on sewing a liner for it or not.  I'm not a highly skilled sewer and with it having a round bottom and tube style shape, it may be a bit tricksy for me to sew that on the machine.  Attaching a liner would be easier with the handles off I imagine.  I also still have to make the drawstring cord for it next.

And for the shawl, I think I'll be stopping where I am at and finish up with the edging.  I thought I'd use the two full skeins I have but it might end up a bit heavy and too ripple wavy edge.  This may be a gift for a friend of mine.  

Even the cat likes it.

Well I'm off to enjoy the day.  

Ripple WIP

Work in progress Wednesday I am still trucking along on my bed ripple.  Thank god it's only for a single bed.  I'd get discouraged on progress if it was any wider LOL.

And for my African Flowers bag, I am done the bag.  Just have to make handles and the drawstring.

And I made my first Easter item.  From Sucrette's Blog the Easter Bunny Egg.

I didn't have googly eyes the size I needed so I sewed them on.  Anyway, that's all for today.  Happy Hump Day!!

Birthday Weekend

It's been a long week and now relaxing for my long birthday weekend.  It's on Monday. I am an Aries girl.  Any special plans?  Not really, maybe dinner tonight or tomorrow with my honey.  It's quite gloomy today.  I am not sure how it will be come Monday, but I better see some sun.  I want to go visit some family and maybe get together with a friend to crochet.  What more could you want for your birthday.  Next year with be the milestone b-day so I plan to enjoy my last year of my 30's. 

Anyway, this week I've manage to work on my African Flowers Bag.  Getting the top part done and will have to do the drawstring.  I would like to make a liner, however I may have to get some sewing practice on the machine a friend gave me.  I tried it out when I got it and the thread is bunching underneath.  I've read this tend to be a tension issue so I will have to keep playing around with that.  Of course the other thing is finding the right material for this colourful bag for the lining.  


I managed a few more rows on my ripple blanket.  The picture is a bit enhanced with a fun photo app on my phone.  

And I truly love my new Lucy Bag I finished last weekend.  

No colour enhancing on this one.  

And yesterday a co-worker surprised me with a birthday gift since I am off on Monday with this....

Melting pot for candle goodness.  I burned a square of the Vanilla Bean scent she got me.  Love it and really wasn't expecting her to get me a gift. Truly appreciated, thanks Denise!

Works In Progress

Where has March gone?  I've been working on my African Flowers bag.  I joined them all on Sunday and started the base and the lower part of bag. I finished joining bottom to the sides of bag.  Now to work on top half.  It's going to be a draw string type bag.

I know, I still have another bag in the works so how can I start another.  Well, I have a little bit of ADD with projects, a bit too much of browsing other blogs and Pinterest to see new ideas.  And some of you know, once you get that idea in your head you think, "I better start it now so I don't forget and put it off.  And besides, it will use up some of that stash". LOL  I don't even want to get started on stash.  Must work on finding new things to make with that.  Of course some of that yarn is more for now out of season items.  I can always make hats for a craft fair or next winter's gifts.  So much yarn, so little time.  

      After work today it was so gorgeous out I had to get on the sneaks and go for a walk.  Yes, it's that time of year where you say, I'm going to get back in shape.  Then the heat hits and you can't imagine going for a walk without a portable air conditioner. 

So lovely out even the cat enjoyed the fresh air
