Lazy Sundays

Thank god I found Crochet!  I've been dealing with some stressful issues with my parents and it's been a crazed week.  I haven't spent as much time crocheting this week as I'd like to but I do manage a bit each day to try and relax.  So, on to things I have done and new things I got this week.
Some new colours and made one of the Japanese flowers for my shawl that I will eventually finish one day.
Even that cat likes the new yarn.
I did another square from the Go Crochet! Book.

Japanese flower, free-styled motif and a granny square.
Some new acquirements from a thrift shop this week.  All for $2. So the TLC yarn I want to use in a granny strip blanket, it's like a minty bluey colour.

I started the strip in this light pink and want to use the darker pink with the TLC stuff.  I am just not sure if I should throw this purple in or not.  Too bold?  Stick to the softer colours?  What do you think?

This is another pic of the yarns using Instagram App on my phone.  They finally have it for Android.  And I am sure you all heard that Facebook bought "acquired" Instagram recently.
I really love the app. It doesn't have enough effects, yet.  But it has it's own community in a sense.  You can search for things you are interested in, crochet, and see other's photo's.  You can follow users as well upon approval.

Oh and a bit more on my ripple.  Slowly but surely.

Happy Sunday!!

Yarning On

So it's hump day.  I've had some stressful family issues happening since the weekend.  Just keep crochet, keep calm and crochet. Anyway, I found a skein of Lion Brand's Cotton Ease at the thrift store the other day.  I feels so nice, I can't wait to make something with it, now sure what yet.  Any ideas?

The picture doesn't do the colour justice but it's a nice light green.

I started a new style of squares for my grey's granny blanket.
I used tutorial from Little Tin Bird's Site. Very easy.

Four squares made and joined.

I also just got a new book this week.  Go Crochet!! from Ellen Gormley.  So far I love it. Lots of instruction and explaination on things in the beginning.  Patterns for various shapes inside.  And since I was doing the square thing I just tried this one.

I highly recommend this book.

That's all for now. Happy Hump Day!

Happy Easter!!

Happy Easter to everone!  These are a few Easter items I whipped up last night to give to some family today.  It's been a gorgeous weekend so far.  Yesterday honey and I went out and about to some parks and along the river.  Here are some of the pics I captured.  This is in our city's Jackson Park or as they renamed Queen Elisabeth Gardens.

Not all the flowers were filled planted in the gardens as there is usually flowers in this plane shaped garden under these airplanes.  I believe one of them is a Spitfire.
There were two wedding parties that showed up while there to take their pictures.  One came in this lovely old converted limo.
Then went down along our river front that our city spent quite a bit on landscaping etc.  Across the river is the Ren Cen home to General Motors Headquarters in Detroit.
And this is our Casino, Caesar's.
A building still left that was originally an old rail station.
And of course I had to snap some sunlight snaps of my Lucy bag and ripple.

Love Magnolia Trees.  I wish I had one in my yarn, someday.

TGIF

Well Happy Easter to all who celebrate it. Holiday today, unfortunately I am working.  I did get some progress done on some things.
This was given to me by my aunt last weekend when she de-stashed on me.  I figured out the stitch and have done a few more rows on this queen sized bed throw.  I also found that I do love these newer style of Susan Bates crochet hooks.  They seem to work especially well with this cotton yarn I am using on the bed throw.  They have a more flat under the hook.  I find for the cotton they do not snag.  I still have to try them with other fiber types.
I got a few more rows done on my ripple.
Yesterday was a nice day.  I had gone to the dentist late in the day and when I got home my mouth was still too frozen to have dinner so I went for a walk.  I took a few snaps along the way, including some signs of spring blooming.

Some fun things came in the mail this week.
Oh what to use them on.

And today I received a Liebster Award from Crochet Capers

I have to now tell you five things about myself:
1. I love cats, if you couldn't already tell
2.  I love Mexican styles of food
3.  I drive standard, stick shift car
4.  I have 3 tatoos
5.  I love making things for people.

Now I have to nominate five people to award the blog to:

Ripple WIP

Work in progress Wednesday I am still trucking along on my bed ripple.  Thank god it's only for a single bed.  I'd get discouraged on progress if it was any wider LOL.

And for my African Flowers bag, I am done the bag.  Just have to make handles and the drawstring.

And I made my first Easter item.  From Sucrette's Blog the Easter Bunny Egg.

I didn't have googly eyes the size I needed so I sewed them on.  Anyway, that's all for today.  Happy Hump Day!!

Birthday Surprises

I had a most enjoyable weekend and day for my birthday today.  Thank you to all who sent birthday wishes.  I slept in and then went to visit some family.  It was nice to see my aunt's and my Mimi today.  Showed them some of my crochet items.  I gave  Mimi my white shrug who I'm sure could use it more than I could.  My one aunt who crocheted a bit herself unknowingly gave me some of her yarn stash and some started projects.  I gladly took them off her hands.  As well, gave me her sewing machine.  Yes, I did just get another but it doesn't hurt to have another that may work better or that I may just be more familiar with.  Who knows, I'll give it a try.  So here are some of these items....
Some started granny squares I can continue and make into a blanket.

French knitter.
Sewing machine
Cotton throw blanket and 2 big skeins of yarn.  Looks like the width of a double bed.
Even done another 2 rows on it today.
And some more stash.  Some of this being from another acquirement via Ebay. LOL

After my lovely visit I went to see my fellow crochet buddy, who is as Krazy as me with her crochet, hence her name of her Blog - Krazy Momma Kreations
But for a birthday gift she gave me this fun bag she made, using the crocodile stitch that she had been saying after a while she hated doing.  I have yet to try it myself but intend to.  How can you hate this stitch when it produces such a nice effect.
So I came home and found my box of yarn for my ripple blanket had arrived.  I realised that I was going to need at least another skein of each colour.  And in the mailbox my new Crochet Today Magazine and a lovely birthday card from another one of my aunt's.  It was sunny but cool today. A nice change from the cloudy and gloomy weekend we had here.
I decided to organise the stash since I had new items to sort and add to it.

Oh and for last night, honey and I watched Wrestlemania.  Mostly I just wanted to see the main match, John Cena versus The ROCK.  I love John Cena but I have a thing for the Rock and was rooting for him.  It was held in his hometown of Miami in fact so, sure enough he won.  I was actually surprised a bit as The Rock will go back to his usual making of movies.  Oh well still fun to watch.
Back to the weekly grind.
Have a good week everyone!

Birthday Weekend Part 2

I am officially quiting crocheting.  Who needs it.  Boring repetitive yarning.  Colours too bright.

NOT.  April Fools!!!

I made my first mosaic of projects. Mostly ones to do with March. My African flowers now being made into a bag. My yummy ripple blanket, can't get it done quick enough, Lucy Crochet Bag (finally a finished project), my Rainbow Mandala sold on Etsy and Crochet motif book.

So yesterday honey and I went out browsing some stores, Pet stores, trinket stores, etc.  Then we had lunch and my favourite place, Mongolian Grill. Buffet style, you pick your food, sauces and spices and they cook it for you in the open on a big giant grill.  Come with a salad.  I also had enough points on their frequent warrior card to get a free appetizer, these Pizza Rolls. I didn't care for them but the buffet is always worth it.

We went to the mall and I got myself a few things.  A new calendar, yes I know it is now April but they were 60% off and I have been waiting for this type to go on sale as they fit into those wooden wall holders.  As well I found this cute little owl, at the Dollarstore no less.

Honey got me a very cute birthday card. I had to video it to show you.

Then I got to come home and relax, enjoy some drinks and crochet.  I got another 2 1/2 rows done on the ripple.
