Tuesday's Tallies

Well happy Tuesday all! Adding to Tuesday's Tallies at Gingerbread Girl's Blog

It's nice and sunny out today so that's a good start.  My crocheted bag is still WIP.  On the red row now.

I've also been trying to make some hearts for a Valentine's garland.

And I have still been working with that Knook.  Making a mini scarf.  I think I missed a stitch on one of the end and will probably do a nice little edging on it when done to hide the joins and mistakes. LOL

And the knitted ruffle scarf is getting there as well.

Clearly I start way too many projects.

Hearts and Omlettes

When browsing Pinterest I found this yummy looking recipe.  Breakfast Omlette Muffins. I have to say they were quite yummy.  I used green pepper instead of the broccoli.

More progress on the crochet bag.....

My crochet co-worker got a Knook kit.  She asked me to see if I can figure how to use it out.  It's knitting with a crochet hook.
This was my practise attempt. It really does look like knitting if you do it right.  I watched a few videos on You Tube on how to use it. I re-started a knooked item, going to make a thinner scarf in varied pink shades.
I also picked up recently a ball of Red Heart's Sashay yarn.  I makes those ruffle scarf you see around.  I seen a tutorial on how to use it.  You use one edge of it to knit.  I just cast about 10 or so stitches. You seem to produce  length quick but you have to spread the strands to grab the space you need to knit into.

And lastly, I forgot to post the Hearts as stated in the post title.  I want to make more and make a hearts swag for Valentines Day.  So many projects on the go.  That's from impatience to get projects done, high multi-tasking abilities (job related) and slight A.D.D. LOL  I think I need to stop checking out blogs daily and actually get my projects done.  Maybe cut back to bi-weekly blog hopping.  There are so many great projects that I find on other's blogs and Pinterest that I want to make as well.  Thanks for visiting my blog.

Tuesday's Tallies

Happy  Tuesday.  In conjuction with One A Day Group on Ravelry and Gingerbread Girl's blog linked here,

I have been working on my crochet bag in hopes to do at least one row a day.  I managed 2 last night.  Here's the progress.

I can't seem to get this done fast enough.  Hopefully on the weekend it will be done.

Organizing

I wanted to get some organizing accomplished this weekend in my work/craft storage area.  I picked up another plastic bin, even has wheels on it.  I mostly have my yarn in plastic bin drawers now.

It is with best intentions on using up these yarns this year, on blankets, grannies and other tempting projects.
I didn't get to doing much more than a few more rows on the crochet bag.  The new stitch does slow down the progress because you have to link into the previous stitch.  But in the end, it will be worth it by making the bag stronger.  I started a scarf this weekend as well, again to use up some stash of the thicker yarns before winter's end.  I have 3 skeins of this and I hope it is enough for length.  After taking the photo I realised the second skein doesn't have as much of that darker pink.

I have blocked two of my Tunisian squares and am working on a third.

This is showing the Tunisian Simple Stitch, how it looks on the front and back of the work.  Back side does tend to curl, hence having to block it after to get it to flatten.  I pin them to a box with a towel over it and then spray it down with spray starch.
I also managed to get another granny square done.

As I was browsing my groups on Ravelry admiring someones ripple blanket, they had posted this link that helps you generate a pattern order for the colors you want to use for a blanket or other multi-coloured crocheted items.    Random Stripe Generator .  What a most helpful tool.
Have a good week all!!

Crochet Bag Revised

So in my blog followings, I came across a stitch tutorial on a different way to do the (DC) Double Crochet stitch.   And since that is the stitch I am using on this bag, I thought I'd try it.  All I can say is wow.  Why didn't I pay attention to this post on this stitch before I started the bag.  It seems to be almost made for a project like this, bag or anything else needing some durability.  I found the tutorial here on the (Ldc) Linked Double Crochet on Crochet Spot's Blog. Give it a try.  It's so easy.  I took a few pictures of my bag trying to show the differences in the stitches.
To the right of the hook and below stitches navy and down are the regular double crochet stitches. They tend to show some space in between the stitches.  To left of hook top row, is the LDC linked double crochet.
My navy blue yarn is a bit thinner than the others for some reason even though it's supposed to be the same worsted weight yarn.
So I am going to continue the bag in this stitch for the durability factor.
Thank you Rachel from Crochet Spot for sharing this stitch and the many other great tutorials you share.

WIP Wednesday

Joining with WIP Wednesday from Tami's Ami's I am posting my progress. I started a new project Sunday.  I posted the yarns for it in the last post.  I've been wanting to do one of these bags from Lucy's Blog for like a year now.  Here's the base and a bit of the sides so far.

I'm sure I'll have it done at weeks end.  And for my other project, it's not perfect yet.  More to come.

So Much Yarn....

Another productive weekend.  Before Christmas I had started a puff stitch hat.  I finally finished it, edged it and added a Dahlia flower I had previously made.  It's quite warm.
I made some flowers to go with the "special project" I am hoping to get that all together this week.  Some supplies are needed and Michael's has a good sale on tomorrow.

I also made a few baby hats on my loom.  This was the second one and I used a decrease method that tapers the top shut better than the usual pull the string method that tends to make top of hat bulkier.  It's fine for adult hat but since these baby hats are so small it's a much better method I find.  Again thanks to you tube tutorials on how to do the decrease method of casting off the loom.
Another Granny Square made.

I decided to finally start a crochet bag a la Lucy (Attic 24) with my cotton yarn I've been trying to get a nice rainbow of colours to make it in.  The picture was take in the vivid mode, it just looks more lovelier that way.

Hopefully I will get more done on the bag this week as well as my special project, even some more Japanese flowers for my shawl and I can post the progress.  Have a great week everyone!!

Loom Hat Finished

I finally managed to follow the tutorial on how to finish off the hat. Looming is amazingly easy. Anyone can do it. You Tube is amazing at showing you how to start it off, do different stitch patterns and finish it off. It's a nice change from crochet. If carpel tunnel is setting in from too much crochet, this is a nice change. HAHA
So this was the picture on the loom.

     And the finished product.

And I had a nice surprise in the mail from my lovely talented friend in Ohio, her handmade jewellery. I am trying to convince her she needs to setup and Etsy shop to sell her wonderful items. Thanks so much sissy!! Love them.

I also got a chance to crochet and cozy up with the cat.  Nothing is more cozier.

Happy Friday the 13th everyone!

Weekend progress

From those color circles, I made them into squares with the pale lavendar color. Not sure what I'm doing with those yet. Also I got 3 of the grannies joined now. And I made 2 more Japanese flowers for the year long shawl that keeps getting put to the side.

Now squares

This was the latest picture of my shawl.  It just needs to be a bit longer to wrap properly.

Squares and Giveaway

I just wanted to share this giveaway with you.  Susanne's Blog is giving a new year's bundle to her followers.  Check it out.

As for my special Granny Square project, some more progress has been made and hope to make more this weekend.  I edged it with a pale lavender colour.  I think I will have to block it again to get the edges straight.  Flowers are being made for this project as well.  I'm hoping to get a few varieties done in these fun happy colours.

I also finished a shrug I only started early September.  I had already made one with a green tone in Homespun yarn but wanted a white, neutral one.  I improvised on the design as the first one I found I wanted longer sleeves for more warmth as well as extended length on the back.

I hope everyone has a good weekend and enjoys the mild weather here in the Easter time Zone.

Colourful Grannies

I am working on a special project for myself.  Idea came from Pinterest.  So here is the first part of it.

They are currently being blocked right now to get ready to join in white.  The inner colours and the white is the Red Heart shimmer yarn.
